Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I visit the bird before I buy?
A: Yes! All visits are by appointment only UNTIL our storefront is completed, and you can meet babies when they are pulled from the nest.
Q: Do you ship birds?
A: Yes! We ship through Delta Airlines nationwide for an additonal fee.
Q: What species do you offer?
A: Lovebirds, Cockatiels, Green Cheek Conures, Indian Ringnecks, and seasonal specialty breeds.
Q: How do I join the texting alert list?
A: Text your name to our number 865-692-7238, say âI want birdsâ to be added to our automatic species texting list.
Q: Is there a waitlist?
A: We do not use a wait list. All babies are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis once they are ready for reservation or pre-weaning adoption.
Q: What is consent based feeding and why do you do it?
A: Consent-based feeding means we use a spoon unless itâs medically necessary to use any other form of feeding, such as a syringe.
We use consent-based feeding because itâs safer and creates positive associations. Babies choose to eat at their own pace, which supports natural swallowing and reduces stress. Syringe feeding can be uncomfortable andâif inserted too deep or on the wrong sideâcan increase the risk of aspiration. Consent-based feeding avoids those risks and helps produce calmer, more confident birds.
Q: How old are the birds when you pull them from the nest?
A: When the last baby to hatch reaches 3 weeks of age.
Q: What if I do not know how to handfeed a bird?
A: Thatâs completely okay! We offer a hand-feeding tutorial session, and if you purchase a young bird youâre always welcome to bring it back for us to finish its feedings. We also provide phone or video support, and if youâre nearby we can even come to you to help. Or, if you prefer, you can simply reserve the baby and pick it up once itâs fully weaned.
